Frequently asked questions

How does deleting photos actually work?

Swiping left only queues a photo for deletion — nothing is removed from your library at that moment. Once you finish a batch (or tap "Done for now"), you land on a review grid showing everything you're about to delete, kept, or filed into an album. You can change your mind on any photo there. Only tapping the delete button on that screen actually removes anything, and deleted photos go through the same "Recently Deleted" flow as deleting from the Photos app.

I swiped the wrong way — can I undo it?

Yes, there's an undo button for your most recent swipe. It only covers the single last swipe, and only for the current session — closing the app clears it.

What happens if I close the app in the middle of a batch?

Any decisions from that in-progress batch are discarded. This is intentional — nothing is saved to disk until you actually confirm a batch, so backgrounding or closing KeepIt mid-review just means starting that batch over with a fresh queue next time you open the app.

How does syncing between my devices work?

If you use KeepIt on more than one device signed into the same iCloud account, your keep/delete/album decisions follow you, so you won't be asked to review the same photo twice. Only the decision itself syncs (via your own private iCloud account) — never the photo or video content. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.

How do I see photos I've already reviewed again?

Open Settings (the gear icon on the swipe screen) and use "Unmark All Photos." This resets every photo back into your review queue and clears your lifetime stats, starting fresh. It doesn't touch albums or photos you've already deleted.

Why isn't a specific photo showing up for review?

KeepIt shows unreviewed photos and videos newest-first, in batches of 50. If you've granted KeepIt "limited" photo access rather than full access, the caught-up screen has a "Select More Photos" button to share more of your library without leaving the app.

What do Review Reminders do?

An optional, opt-in notification (off by default, toggle in Settings) that occasionally lets you know how many photos from the last 30 days are still waiting to be reviewed. Timing is controlled by iOS, not KeepIt, so it's not on a fixed schedule.
